Heritage Painting Preparation

We pride ourselves in the quality of our work, ensuring surfaces are thoroughly prepared before applying the coating systems. Cracks, from minor hair-line cracks up to major structural cracking are filled using the correct materials. For major cracks this may involve sand, lime and cement or even plastering. All surfaces are rubbed down and dusted off, and in some cases, may require washing down. Preparation is the most important aspect of a job, ensuring the quality of the final finish as well as adding years onto the paintwork before it will need painting again.

Church of the Sacred Heart, Semaphore

Conservation, reconstruction, repaint and beautification work of the Sacred Heart Church in Semaphore was performed as per the Burra Charter using modern day paint finishes. The most important part of the painting and decorating work performed by Lancaster Painters Australia, was the preparation work that included the sweeping down of walls, repair of minor cracks, intense filling of major cracks, sanding and plastering. Sacred Heart Church Beautification

Environmentally friendly Haymes Paints were used to paint the Sacred Heart Church. The original banner signage of the arch that had previously been painted over was reconstructed using 22 karat gold leaf. Decorative finishes were skilfully hand painted by artisans educated in the decorative arts. Beautification included a hand painted dado, broken colour effects, pin-striping, gilding, stencils, marbling, wood graining, scumbling, venetian glaze, copper antiquing, timber repolishing and the artistic conservation and repair work of the Stations of the Cross.
